Hi, I'm Ev. I'm training to become a horsewoman. These are my adventures and misadventures. I'm green as hell, but so far, so good. I'm now learning from Bo (and sometimes his wife DeDe) at D&D Ranch in Pope Valley. I am extremely lucky to have this opportunity, I feel quite blessed, and I feel that they, and horses, have really turned my life around.
Solomon is my baby- a big old flea bitten grey Appendix gelding who is very kind and way too smart! I love him so very much. He is a rescue and was meant to be co-owned rehabbed, and maybe rehomed to a good home. He turned out to be over 25 years old with injuries that ultimately do not make him riding sound, so he is retired.

Melanomas

Solomon has had a melanoma on his inner thigh for a while now.

Well, yesterday I found two more. One up in his inner thigh and one 4 or 5 inches below his anus. He also has some sort of large slightly squishy thing about the size of my palm on his belly/loin area that is under the skin but not, far as I can tell, connected to the muscle. I am not sure if it is a tumor, a hernia (don't know much about those yet) or something else.

I knew this was going to start to happen eventually, but I was hoping it wouldn't be so soon. I am mostly worried about the squishy under the skin mass. The spread of the melanomas is troubling, but he's a grey and he's 17 years old, and so many greys get them at that age.
